What the French Ministry of Culture records
Lieu occupé dès l'époque préhistorique. La forteresse médiévale s'élève au-dessus du village de Wintzenheim ; elle a été bâtie à partir de 1278. Au 14e siècle, tranformation en seigneurie de Hohlandsberg. Dans la seconde moitié du 16e siècle, défense complétée par la construction d'une barbacane munie d'un bastion à deux casemates. Démantèlement en partie réalisé dans la première moitié du 17e siècle.
