To make a day of it

Château de Saint-Ulrich stands in Ribeauvillé (Haut-Rhin), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century, 14th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Above the town of Ribeauvillé, the castle of Saint-Ulrich stands on a rocky spur over 500 metres high, alongside the Girsberg and Haut-Ribeaupierre castles. It served as the main residence of the lords of Ribeaupierre from the 12th to the 16th century, before they moved to a more comfortable castle below. Visible remains include a square keep, a residential building, the knights' hall with its Romanesque windows, and a 15th-century chapel dedicated to Saint Ulrich, from which the site takes its name.
