Schloss Wittenberg stands in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, in the Landkreis Wittenberg, Saxony-Anhalt, on the site once occupied by the residence of the Electors of Saxony. Over the centuries the building went through fires, wars and repeated alterations, until a restoration was completed in 2016. It now serves as a visitor and information centre, and houses the Foundation for Christian Art along with a research library dedicated to the history of the Reformation. Its tower, visible from afar, carries a line from one of Luther's hymns.
