To make a day of it
Schloss Wörlitz stands in Oranienbaum-Wörlitz (Landkreis Wittenberg), in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Wörlitz, on the shore of the Wörlitzer See in Saxony-Anhalt, is regarded as the earliest classical building erected in Germany. Prince Leopold III Friedrich Franz of Anhalt-Dessau commissioned it from 1769, with architect Friedrich Wilhelm von Erdmannsdorff replacing an earlier baroque hunting lodge on the site, and the work was completed in 1773. Its interiors have survived almost intact, with original furniture from the Roentgen workshop, old master paintings, a collection of antiquities and ceramics largely drawn from Wedgwood replicas. Together with its landscape park, the palace forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage ensemble.
