Schloss Kropstädt stands at the southwestern edge of the village of Kropstädt, a district of Lutherstadt Wittenberg, set within a landscape park of about ten hectares laid out around 1850. The present building, in an English neo-Gothic style, was erected in 1855-1856 to replace an earlier château torn down a few years before, on a site occupied since the Middle Ages by a moated stronghold. Its rendered brick façade, two storeys above a basement level, features two projecting wings of unequal size and balconies on the narrow sides and towards the courtyard. The original interior decoration has been lost over time, though the park still holds a notable stand of old trees.
