Burg Eisenhardt overlooks the town of Bad Belzig from a hill in the Hoher Fläming region of Brandenburg. The site goes back to a Slavic stronghold first recorded in 997, but the stone fortress visible today took shape from the thirteenth century onward under the counts of Belzig, before being substantially reinforced by the dukes and later electors of Saxony at the end of the fifteenth century. The round keep, twenty-eight metres high, and the fortified gatehouse form the most recognisable parts of the complex today. The castle now houses a local history museum along with a branch of the town's registry office.
