To make a day of it

Burg Pritzerbe stands in Havelsee (Landkreis Potsdam-Mittelmark), in Brandenburg, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Burg Pritzerbe refers to the remains of a former episcopal stronghold, now reduced to a mound known as the Mühlenberg or Bischofshügel, on the southern edge of the village of Pritzerbe in the municipality of Havelsee. Built on the orders of the bishops of Brandenburg after Albrecht the Bear reconquered the territory in the 12th century, it stood at a strategic spot between the Havel river and the Pritzerbe lake, controlling a road and a ferry crossing. The bishops used it intermittently as a residence before favouring Ziesar instead, and the site gradually fell into ruin from the late Middle Ages onward. Nothing of the structure remains above ground today, only the mound marking where the fortress once stood.
