To make a day of it

Schloss Oberdolling stands in Oberdolling (Landkreis Eichstätt), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Oberdolling stands apart from the parish church of St. George, still surrounded by a water-filled moat that recalls its origin as a moated castle. The present building, a three-storey block with a hipped roof and corner turrets, dates from a 1649 reconstruction carried out for the Jesuits of Ingolstadt after the original stronghold was destroyed by Swedish troops during the Thirty Years' War. A fire in 1931 led the Foerster family, then owners, to rebuild it following the historic model, giving the Schloss its present appearance.
