Burg Kipfenberg stands on a rocky spur 430 metres high, above the village of Kipfenberg in the Landkreis Eichstätt. Built in the 12th century by the Kropf lords, it later passed to the bishopric of Eichstätt before falling into disrepair from the 18th century onward. The Taeschner family had it rebuilt between 1914 and 1925 to designs by architect Bodo Ebhardt, keeping the Romanesque keep at the centre of the new complex. Now privately owned, its outer ward houses the Roman and Bavarian Museum of Kipfenberg.
