To make a day of it

Schloss Kösching stands in Kösching (Landkreis Eichstätt), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Kösching stands on the site of a former moated castle (Wasserburg) built by the counts of Hirschberg, which passed to the Wittelsbach dukes at the end of the 13th century. The present building, a two-winged, three-storey structure under a hipped roof, dates from the 17th century, with a 16th-century gatehouse and remains of the earlier structure nearby. Traces of the old curtain wall foundations and the now dry moat can still be made out, while the building itself today houses a health centre rather than a museum.
