Schloss Lauterbach stands on a hillside sloping to the southeast, between Neukirchen and Zwickau in Saxony. Built in 1884 in Neo-Renaissance style as the manor house of the local estate, it owes its significance to an interior remodeling carried out between 1907 and 1909 by the Belgian architect Henry van de Velde, a key figure of Art Nouveau and former head of the arts and crafts school in Weimar.
