Schloss Karlstein rises within a park in the Landkreis Regensburg, on the site of a medieval stronghold once tied to the Chadolth family. Rebuilt and enlarged after 1900 in a neo-Gothic style, the present building has four wings and includes a chapel dedicated to St. Ulrich, where two former residents of the estate are buried. Still privately owned by the von Drechsel family, it can only be seen from the outside.
