Wolfsegg Castle rises above the village of Wolfsegg in the Landkreis Regensburg, Bavaria, set on a limestone outcrop that also conceals an extensive cave system. Built in the early 14th century by the Wolf von Schönleiten family, it flourished under the Laaber lords before falling into decline, until it was rescued and restored in the 20th century. Visitors today can explore a museum housed in the residential building, the adjoining chapel and the largely intact surrounding walls.
