The Reitlingsbefestigungen are a group of earthworks and ring ramparts spread across the hilltops and valley floor of the Reitlingstal, in the Elm range of Lower Saxony. The remains date from several distinct building phases, beginning with prehistoric refuge forts and ending with medieval alterations around 1300. Among them stand the Krimmelburg and the Brunkelburg, two fortified enclosures perched on rocky spurs above the valley, along with the fainter traces of the Wendehai-Wälle. There is no signage on site, and visitors find their way mainly by following the forest tracks that cut through the ramparts.
