To make a day of it
Heinrichsburg stands in Harzgerode (Landkreis Harz), in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Heinrichsburg stands as a ruin on a rocky diabase spur above the Selke valley, north of Mägdesprung in the wooded Harz mountains. Probably founded in the early 13th century to guard a route linking Thuringia to Quedlinburg and the nearby mining works, it became in the 14th century a stronghold for highwaymen before being captured and destroyed. What remains today are sections of the square keep's walls, the foundations of a dwelling, a well, and traces of the moat and ring rampart that once enclosed the upper and lower bailey.
