To make a day of it
Burg Wagegg stands in Haldenwang (Landkreis Oberallgäu), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Burg Wagegg stands above the hamlet of the same name in the municipality of Haldenwang, in the Oberallgäu district. First recorded around 1170, it belonged to a family of ministerial knights before passing to the prince-abbots of Kempten, who turned it into an elaborate baroque hunting residence with gardens and ponds from the early eighteenth century onward. Dismantled section by section in the early nineteenth century, only a wooded mound, fragments of walls and a large stone gateway survive today. A viewing platform on top of the ruin gives, in clear weather, a wide view over the Allgäu Alps.
