To make a day of it
Fürstäbtliche Residenz stands in Kempten (Kempten), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Adult admission costs 4 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Fürstäbtliche Residenz in Kempten stands on the site of a Benedictine monastery founded in the 8th century and destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. Rebuilding began in 1651 under Prince-Abbot Roman Giel von Gielsberg, making it one of the earliest large-scale Baroque complexes erected in Germany after the war. The finest interiors date from the 18th century: a set of princely apartments crowned by a Rococo festival hall with rich stucco work and a painted ceiling. Visitors today walk through this sequence of state rooms, from the grand hall to the bedchamber.
