To make a day of it
Schloss Kronburg stands in Kronburg (Landkreis Unterallgäu), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Kronburg stands above the village of Kronburg, in the Landkreis Unterallgäu in Bavaria, on a hill visible from far away. A castle already existed here in the early thirteenth century, built by a family of ministeriales serving the Staufer dynasty, and it then passed through many hands over the centuries. The lords of Rechberg turned it into a proper Burgschloss in the sixteenth century, and the barons of Westernach gave it its present appearance in the early eighteenth century, with round towers topped by onion domes and weathervanes. Visitors today can see these four towers, rebuilt after French troops partly demolished them in 1704, along with period features such as heraldic paintings and door fittings.
