To make a day of it
Burghalde stands in Kempten (Kempten), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
The Burghalde rises over the town centre of Kempten in Bavaria, a hill that carried a late Roman settlement and later a medieval fortress, of which ruins remain. From the top there are views south to the Alps, west to the prince-abbots' residence and the St Lorenz basilica, north across the old town, and east to the Lindenberg with its Gallo-Roman remains. Since the mid-19th century the hill has been laid out as a public park around the ruins, with a Neo-Gothic gatekeeper's house and an open-air stage built in 1950. It functions today as a green space within the city rather than a monument to be toured.
