Burg Leibertingen stands in Leibertingen (Landkreis Sigmaringen), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Recorded dating: 10th century. No visits are on record for this building.

Burg Leibertingen refers to the remains of a motte castle that no longer survives, located in the municipality of Leibertingen in Baden-Württemberg. Probably built in the 11th century, it may have preceded the Wildenstein castles erected from 1100 onward, or later served as the local seat of a minor noble family recorded in 1231. Pottery fragments found at the site indicate occupation continuing into the 13th century. All that remains is a circular mound roughly twenty metres across, partly destroyed by construction work in the 1970s.

What to know

  • The site lies behind the Zur Burg inn, away from the village centre.
  • There are no opening hours or fees, as the site is open ground.
  • A visit is limited to viewing the mound, with no tourist facilities on site.
