To make a day of it
Burg Hornstein stands in Bingen (Landkreis Sigmaringen), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Burg Hornstein stands on a rocky spur above the Lauchert valley, at roughly 630 metres, near the hamlet of Hornstein in Bingen. First documented in 1244, it was the seat of the noble von Hornstein family until it was rebuilt around 1700 into a substantial baroque residence, later sold in 1787 to the Princes of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. Most of the buildings were torn down in 1873 following a period as a correctional institution, leaving only the baroque chapel, which contains carvings and a stucco figure of Christ attributed to Joseph Anton Feuchtmayer. The ruin is now open to visitors and hosts events organised by a local preservation association.
