To make a day of it
Schloss Meßkirch stands in Meßkirch (Landkreis Sigmaringen), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Adult admission costs 3 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Standing at the heart of Meßkirch, this Schloss replaced a medieval castle that Count Froben Christoph von Zimmern had torn down before laying the foundation stone of a new building on 9 May 1557. The result is regarded as the first regular, four-winged Renaissance palace built north of the Alps, a design later echoed by related noble families. Highlights inside include the Rittersaal, a great hall over thirty metres long with its original coffered wooden ceiling from 1561. The building now houses a cultural and museum centre owned by the town.
