Schloss Espasingen stands in Stockach, in the Landkreis Konstanz, in Baden-Württemberg. Built in the late 16th century by the lords of Bodman, it served as their seat for nearly two centuries before becoming a brewery from 1839 onward. A fire in 1892 destroyed much of the old structure, which was rebuilt in simplified form the following year. Left empty for decades, the complex is now being converted into residential use.

What to know

  • The building lies in the hamlet of Espasingen, part of Stockach, close to the B 313 federal road.
  • It is currently undergoing conversion into residential housing and is not open for tourist visits.
  • Most of what stands today dates from the rebuilding after the 1892 fire, not from the original Bodman-era structure.
  • No opening hours, fees or access details are available, as the site is not open to the public.
