To make a day of it
Burg Hinta stands in Hinte (Landkreis Aurich), in Lower Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Hinta stands at the heart of the village of Hinte in East Frisia, ringed by a broad water-filled moat. Begun in the late 13th century as a Gothic stronghold for a local chieftain, it was reshaped and enlarged over the following centuries into the four-winged complex around a courtyard that survives today. Its oldest surviving section, the Hohe Haus in the west wing, still shows a stepped gable marking the shift from Gothic to Renaissance style. The estate has belonged to the von Frese family since 1567.
