It takes its name from the Beninga family, who owned it for nearly two centuries before it passed to other lines of descendants. Left in ruin for a long time, it was restored between 1971 and 1978 and now houses a hotel and restaurant within the old buildings, surrounded by a moat and mature trees. One room still displays portraits of the generations of the Beninga family who lived there.
