To make a day of it
Burg Arras stands in Alf (Landkreis Cochem-Zell), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Arras rises on a hilltop above the Moselle at Alf, on a site fortified since Roman times. Rebuilt around the year 950 by a Lotharingian count palatine to protect his Moselle holdings, it still bears a thousand year old keep that survived both wars and decay. Destroyed at the end of the seventeenth century and restored around 1900, the castle is now privately owned and houses a hotel, a restaurant and a museum devoted to the history of the Moselle valley and to former German president Heinrich Lübke, a relative of the present owners.
