To make a day of it
Burg Bischofstein stands in Münstermaifeld (Landkreis Mayen-Koblenz), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Bischofstein Castle sits on a rocky spur above the Moselle, between Moselkern and Hatzenport, facing the village of Burgen. Its cylindrical keep, marked by a band of white plaster halfway up, still dominates the vineyard landscape of the valley. Built in the 13th century for the Archbishopric of Trier and destroyed in 1689, it took its present form during a rebuilding in the 1930s. It now houses a school retreat centre and is therefore not open to the public as a regular visitor site.
