To make a day of it

Schloss Sayn stands in Bendorf (Landkreis Mayen-Koblenz), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Sayn stands at the foot of the hill crowned by Burg Sayn, at the entrance to the Sayn district of Bendorf, in the Landkreis Mayen-Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate. Built on the remains of a fourteenth-century manor house, it was transformed in the mid-nineteenth century into a neo-Gothic residence for Prince Ludwig Adolph Friedrich zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Ludwigsburg and his Russian wife, Leonilla Barjatinsky. A twin chapel modelled on the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris houses a valuable arm reliquary linked to Elisabeth of Thuringia. Rebuilt after wartime damage in 1945, the Schloss now hosts an exhibition on the princely family's history and stands within a landscaped park that includes a butterfly garden.
