What the French Ministry of Culture records

Architecture témoignant de l'évolution d'une demeure seigneuriale du 13e au 17e siècle. Le bâtiment percé d'une archère cruciforme est la seule partie remontant à la fin du 13e ou au début du 14e siècle. Au 16e siècle, l'édifice primitif subit d'importants travaux d'agrandissement avec la construction d'un grand corps de logis, de la tour ouest à caractère défensif et de la tour d'escalier polygonale. Une enceinte épouse les contours du promontoire rocheux. Une tour-porte à pont-levis donne accès au château. Au 17e siècle, de nouveaux bâtiments augmentent le volume du corps de logis ; la tour ouest perd son rôle de flanquement. Aux 18e ou 19e siècles, de petites dépendances aboutissent à la création d'une petite cour intérieur au pied du château primitif. Les deux terrasses précédant la demeure ont été établies au 17e ou au 18e siècle.
