To make a day of it

Château Lagorce stands in Haux, near Bordeaux, surrounded by woodland grounds and a private lake. Its origins go back to the feudal wars of the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, still visible in a tower with walls 1.2 metres thick and remnants of a former moat. The buildings seen today largely date from a 17th century rebuilding, marked by a carved coat of arms bearing the date 1643. The estate is now privately run, mainly hosting weddings and stays.
