What the French Ministry of Culture records
Selon la tradition, un premier château existait au 14e siècle, dont il ne reste rien. L'édifice actuel remonte au 16e siècle. En 1763, le logis fut prolongé par une aile plus basse à laquelle furent ajoutés en 1766 de nouveaux bâtiments contenant une chapelle. Au cours de la même période, furent réaliser les clôtures sud et nord de la cour (1770) et, ultérieurement, le décor intérieur néo-classique du logis. Le château actuel présente un corps de logis carré, soudé à ses angles d'une tour ronde et d'une tour carrée. Le corps de logis se termine par une grande tour carrée accolée d'une tourelle ronde en encorbellement qui devait occuper le centre du bâtiment et servir de donjon. Un bâtiment à usage de communs se poursuit à la suite du donjon. A l'origine, il devait faire partie du logis et comporter également une tour ronde ou carrée à ses angles.
