What the French Ministry of Culture records

En 1310, existence d'un "mas des Hermens" où fut bâtie une maison-forte au cours du 16e siècle, dans la vague de construction de petits édifices rustiques élevés pour des raisons défensives dans le Velay, pendant une période troublée. L'ensemble des bâtiments, disposés en L autour d'une cour, comprend le logis avec sa tour demi hors-oeuvre en façade sud, l'étable accolée à la façade ouest du logis, et la grange en retour vers le sud. Le logis s'élève sur trois niveaux d'ouvertures ainsi que la tourelle. La grande salle du premier étage, ainsi que la chambre à alcôve, sont revêtues de boiseries du 19e siècle.
