What the French Ministry of Culture records

Ce château est représentatif de l'évolution de l'architecture seigneuriale du Velay. Le donjon (14e ou 15e siècle) et son enceinte ont été renforcés durant les guerres de Religion, puis transformés aux 17e et 19e siècles pour en faire un lieu à la fois résidentiel et agricole. A l'intérieur subsistent les menuiseries du 17e siècle ainsi qu'un décor peint en trompe-l'oeil. Au cours de la dernière guerre, un prisonnier italien a couvert un petit salon de peintures de paysage.
