The castle of Schoeneck stands in ruins on a pink sandstone ridge, deep within the forests of the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park, in the commune of Dambach. Built in the early 13th century and rebuilt in 1286 on the initiative of the Bishop of Strasbourg, it was later modernised by the Durckheim family in the 16th century before being destroyed at the end of the 17th. Visible remains include the fortified entrance flanked by two bastions, a western curtain wall and an eastern wall reinforced with towers.
