Château de Lichtenberg stands in Lichtenberg (Bas-Rhin), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: second half of the 14th century, 16th century, 17th century, 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Set on a hilltop in the Vosges du Nord, less than an hour from Strasbourg, the ruins of Lichtenberg Castle bear witness to seven centuries of military history, from the power of the Hanau-Lichtenberg counts to the bombardment of 1870. The pink sandstone facades still display remarkable Renaissance decoration, oculus windows, pilasters and pediments added during the 16th century. Since the 1990s, a contemporary interpretation centre has been built into the ruins, combining exhibition halls, an open-air theatre and an educational space.
