The château of Mouterhouse, in the Moselle department, survives today only as a quiet spot by a pond, facing the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours chapel. This small hunting lodge was built in the mid-16th century for a count of the House of Bitche-Deux-Ponts, before being destroyed by Swedish troops a few decades later. No standing structure remains, but the site, set on a small island, can still be located by walkers in this part of the Northern Vosges.
