Cet édifice est l'un des rares châteaux de la fin du 17e siècle conservé aux environs de Clermont. Son architecture très sobre, soulignée de lave, est caractéristique des maisons de campagne limagnaises de cette époque. C'est également le dernier élément d'une série de châteaux du 17e dont beaucoup ont été démolis. A l'intérieur, les menuiseries ont disparu, de même que tous les décors intérieurs et cheminées.
