To make a day of it

Château de l'Oradou stands in Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The château de l'Oradou no longer stands: it was torn down in 1985 to extend a school, now the Lucie Aubrac secondary school, south of Clermont-Ferrand. Of the estate once praised in the 17th century for its grottoes, pools and cascades, only a 19th-century Italian-style farmhouse and villa remain, along with a nymphaeum fed by springs of the Tiretaine river. The grounds also hold a place in the history of French scouting, as the Charte de l'Oradou was signed there in 1940.
