What the French Ministry of Culture records

Les ruines sont celles d'un château du 14e siècle, vendu par la suite à Louise de Savoie, veuve du duc d'Orléans. Catherine de Médicis y passa en 1586. C'est un édifice rectangulaire flanqué, à ses angles sud, de deux tourelles. L'édifice construit au 16e siècle a été repercé aux 17e et 18e siècles. Il est desservi à chaque niveau par une galerie. Autour, le parc est attribué au paysagiste Edouard André. Il contient un labyrinthe de buis dans lequel joua le futur Henri IV et une vaste pièce d'eau ornée d'animaux en bronze.
