What the French Ministry of Culture records

Les façades du château d'Usson ont été remontées sur le château d'Egreteaux en 1886. Le décor y a été réutilisé suivant une ordonnance architecturale très différente de l'origine. Le château d'Usson formait un vaste quadrilatère entourant une grande cour au milieu de laquelle s'élevait une tour isolée. Sur l'un des longs côtés s'élevait le logis d'habitation ; sur le côté opposé, la porterie et ses dépendances. Le château d'Egreteaux forme, au contraire, une cour ouverte, encadrée par un bâtiment central et deux ailes en retour. Les façades sur cour sont ornées par la façade repliée de l'ancienne façade d'Usson. La tour isolée est maintenant accolée à une aile. A l'intérieur, ces bâtiments contiennent des pièces ornées d'éléments de diverses provenances. L'aile centrale est un vaste palmarium, éclairé par un vitrage dans le comble.
