Château de Bourg-Charente stands in Bourg-Charente (Charente), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Overlooking the Charente valley upstream from Cognac, the château de Bourg-Charente was rebuilt from 1607 onwards by Pons de Pons on the site of a medieval fortress destroyed in the 14th century. The rectangular main building, topped with a balustrade and flanked by a pavilion with a steep pyramidal roof, still features a monumental fireplace and crenellations decorated with cartouches taken from the château de Bouteville. Since 1921 the building has housed the cellars of the Marnier-Lapostolle house, where Grand Marnier is produced, and since 2012 the stills used to distil the bitter oranges for the liqueur.
