L'existence de la maison forte est attestée à la fin du 14e siècle. Les reconnaissances passées au cours du 16e siècle décrivent une construction modeste qui présente les caractéristiques communes à toutes les maisons fortes bâties par la petite noblesse à la fin du Moyen Age. Isolée au coeur du domaine rural, entourée de bâtiments d'exploitation agricoles, la maison s'élève sur une plateforme fossoyée, fortifiée par un ouvrage d'entrée et des tours. Après les troubles, à la fin du 15e ou au début du 16e siècle, la maison forte est remaniée ou reconstruite, dotée d'un corps de logis plus confortable. Le caractère défensif est attesté par la présence de fossés secs, d'un pont-levis qui protège l'entrée, d'une enceinte percée d'archères et commandée par des tours, dont une forte, vestige possible de la construction du 14e siècle. Les dépendances agricoles se répartissent autour de la basse cour. Le logis est flanqué d'une imposante tour d'escalier élevée au centre de la façade sur jardin, et d'une tour carrée à son angle sud-est. La chapelle installée dans la tour ronde médiévale conserve un décor peint rocaille.
