What the French Ministry of Culture records

Edifice de plan carré, flanqué de quatre tours rondes. C'est un des rares châteaux du Moyen-Age à avoir conservé son caractère primitif. Une première porte surmontée d'une salle de guet, avec mâchicoulis, donne accès dans l'enceinte protégeant l'entrée du château. Elle est elle-même défendue par un autre mâchicoulis. Fenêtres à meneaux. Gargouilles sculptées. Meurtrières aux murs et aux tours. Le donjon occupe le centre du château. Cette construction du 15e siècle a été remaniée au 17e siècle.
