A few kilometres from the village of Montgeard, the Château de Roquefoulet stands in the Lauragais region as a discreet reminder of the country houses built by wealthy wheat landowners in the early 19th century. Built in 1818 by architect Louis Delor de Masbou, it follows the restrained lines of Palladian style, with a central two-storey block flanked by two lower wings. The façades differ on each side: a bay with a Serlian window facing the courtyard, and a rounded projection facing the garden. Inside, Pompeian-style paintings and neoclassical woodwork complete this early 19th century décor, set within a park planted with rare species.
