Château d'Airoux stands in Airoux (Aude), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.
The château d'Airoux stands in the Aude department, built largely in the 16th century by Barthélémy de Buisson on the remains of an older seigneurial estate. What survives today is only part of the original complex, since the entrance and one of the surrounding wings have long since disappeared. The main interest lies in the octagonal stair turret, whose carved doorway displays refined Renaissance ornament: engaged Doric columns, a frieze of triglyphs and metopes, and a circular pediment. A few traces of the old defences also remain, an oval gunport and the base of a watchtower.
