Built around 1250 by the Saint-Gérand family on the site of an earlier settlement dating back to Gallo-Roman times, it ranks among the oldest feudal strongholds in the region. Its stones bear witness to centuries of eventful history, from inheritance and marriage to a confiscation during the Hundred Years' War.
