To make a day of it

Château de Montalifant stands in Corseul (Côtes-d'Armor), in the Bretagne region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Perched on a rocky spur overlooking two valleys and a pond, the ruins of Montalifant castle occupy a naturally defensive site at Corseul, in the Côtes-d'Armor. Built by the viscounts of Dinan from the 12th century and altered in the 14th, the triangular stronghold flanked by towers was abandoned at the end of the 15th century and later stripped for building stone. What remains today are low, eroded walls and round towers pierced with arrow slits, traces of a structure that once counted up to seven towers.
