The château de Madon stands at Candé-sur-Beuvron, on grounds occupied since the year 1000 by a residence of the counts of Blois and later by the abbots of Saint-Lomer. The building seen today dates mainly from the 1770s, built for Charles-Gilbert de May de Termont, bishop of Blois, though a 16th-century pavilion survives as a remnant of the earlier château from the time of Louis XII. In the park, a small domed chapel shelters a spring once said to cure eye ailments.
