What the French Ministry of Culture records
Le château existait sûrement avant 1560. Il fut la résidence du capitaine Horgues, comte de Lavedan, qui combattit les troupes calvinistes de Jeanne d'Albret. Après avoir défendu la ville de Tarbes, il se retira dans son château. L'édifice a subi diverses transformations au cours des siècles : la tour sud-ouest aurait été ajoutée au 18e siècle, mais la façade Est n'a subi aucune transformation. La galerie de bois a été entièrement refaite en chêne, à l'identique de l'ancienne. D'aspect massif, le château présente quatre façades bien différenciées. La façade sud est flanquée de deux tours aux puissants contreforts, trois étages de fenêtres surmontant quatre portes-fenêtres. La façade Est est longée par la galerie en bois prenant appui contre la tour et surplombe des fenêtres à encadrements moulurés. La façade nord comporte une échauguette de briques reposant sur une assise de pierres. La façade ouest et la tour carrée sud-ouest ne comportent que peu d'ouvertures. L'intérieur conserve des papiers peints Empire. La charpente est d'origine.
