The château de Tostat stands in the Hautes-Pyrénées on the site of a 14th-century fortified house, of which sections of wall and the surrounding moat on three sides remain. Built between 1770 and 1785 for the Marquis de Bazillac, the building features a central projecting bay topped by a curved pediment whose sculpture was never finished, flanked by two pavilions with pyramidal roofs. Inside, plasterwork and carved wood panelling reflect the taste of the late 18th century. The estate remains privately owned, held today by the Rivière d'Arc family who purchased it in the early 20th century.
